This week’s exploration of Intuitive Eating is fueled by my favorite floral superpowers: Lavender and chamomile. A tonic as delicious hot as it is chilled, this soothing blend of dried lavender and chamomile buds awakens to new, richly scented life under the influence of boiling water, fresh lemon juice, and a touch of honey.

For Reflection offers a recipe that doubles as an oasis of calm from the blur of life in the digital age. Instead of swiping left, right, up, and down, pour, feel, stir, smell, blend, taste. Breathe.

Find the recipe on SONIMA, with more words about calming down and taking time for reflection. Because I can’t possibly be the only one on here that could use an extra dose of serenity.

Lavender Chamomile Tonic for Intuitive Eating.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 2 teaspoons dried or fresh lavender flowers
  • 2 teaspoons dried or fresh chamomile flowers
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • honey to taste

Instructions

  • Place lavender and chamomile in a tea sachet or strainer, if you have one, or loose in a teapot. Add boiling water and steep for 5-10 minutes (or longer, if you prefer a stronger flavor). Remove sachet or strain out blossoms. Stir in lemon juice and add honey to taste, if desired.
  • Make a double batch and enjoy hot or chilled. You can even take some to work and immerse yourself in inner relaxation whilst sipping and responding to important emails.
